Blackberry has whipped up a Storm.

February 10th, 2009

You can’t deny that the Blackberry Storm is a somewhat striking device. It’s clear that a lot of thought went into its design, which is one of the reasons why it’s become such a success. Its large touch screen display (480×360) nearly covers the entire surface of the phone, while the rest of the surface is covered in high gloss, piano black plastic. Underneath the touch screen are the usual Blackberry keys; phone, menu, back and end/power, this furthers the ease of use of this phone.

The phone is bright and the viewing angles are so good, you could sit and watch movies on it all day. Whilst it can be said that the Storm is RIM’s most consumer-oriented device, it’s still very much a Blackberry at heart. With the Blackberry menu the same as before, navigation is simple.

What’s so exciting about yet another Blackberry?!

February 10th, 2009

Blackberry has built itself a reputation as being a secure and reliable solution for the corporate world. It’s practically a mini computer, with its email capabilities and many other features it’s become a phone most businessmen can’t live without. Now with the Storm, Blackberry has become an exciting option for all consumers, not just businesses. The large touchscreen face gives it a sophisticated and neat appearance and makes it easy on the eye. It looks less like a mini computer and more like a phone everyone and anyone can enjoy. It’s packed full of new applications, such as, Facebook, blackjack games and GPS navigation, which makes it a whole lot of fun to use. Applications can also be downloaded via the browser.

Whilst there are lots of functions on the Storm which will appeal to all consumers, it’s still developed the business aspects. Users will be able to cut and paste text when writing emails, this is a big selling point for business users who send lots of emails via their Blackberry.

All in all, some very exciting features available on the Storm.

Sure Press touch screen, a step above the rest?

February 6th, 2009

According to Blackberry, with Sure Press touch screen technology you experience the next level of pressable touch screen, allowing precise typing and quick navigation.

Two factors which determine the success or failure of a touch screen phone are the easy of use and preciseness of the touch. With the Storm, the whole face of the phone reacts to your touch. There are built in notifications, such as a subtle click, when typing, which lets you know a letter has been entered. Simple features like this remove double entering or entering the wrong letters, which means typing on the Storm is fast and accurate.

Navigation on the Storm is one of the reasons why it’s been so successful. With your fingertips becoming the curser, you can navigate from application to application with ease. Opening an application accidentally or making a call by mistake is not likely to happen, as you will feel a click underneath your fingers, which acts as a prevention.
